About the lab
Backyard birding needs an operating system.
There are excellent tools for identifying birds. YardBirdLab is built for a different problem: what to do around the home after you decide you want birds there.
Our focus
We turn feeder hygiene, collision prevention, placement, pets, water and seasonal maintenance into checklists, calculators and repeatable household routines.
What we do not claim
We do not certify yards as safe, diagnose wildlife illness, replace local wildlife agencies, or claim that one maintenance interval fits every species and situation.
How we use sources
When a practical rule comes from an external authority, we link to that source. When conditions can change quickly, such as disease guidance, we direct readers back to current local or federal wildlife guidance.
Use the guides and tools together: identify the household risk, choose a practical next step, and revisit the routine as seasons or conditions change.
